It's impossible to tell without checking the logs as well as the browser's dev tools but my first guess would be a self signed certificate was used, this will not work. The cert must be a valid one.

Not sure why but the permissions on /opt/kaltura/app/cache are wrong.
Running:

# chown -R apache.kaltura /opt/kaltura/app/cache
# find /opt/kaltura/app/cache/ -type f -exec chmod 660 {} \;
# find /opt/kaltura/app/cache/ -type d -exec chmod 775 {} \;

Should straighten it up.

The error messages about path disapeared (thanks), but the KMC still not open.

My guess would be that at one point you chose 'Y' when prompted about SSL and did not provide a cert file, thus /etc/nginx/conf.d/ssl.conf was created with an empty path causing Nginx to declare the config as invalid.
I suggest you remove the file:
# rm /etc/nginx/conf.d/ssl.conf
and rerun /opt/kaltura/bin/kaltura-config-all.sh

Note that when running the config scripts, an answer file is automatically created under /tmp/kaltura_date +%d_%m_%H_%M.ans. You can use this file when calling /opt/kaltura/bin/kaltura-config-all.sh, like so:
/opt/kaltura/bin/kaltura-config-all.sh /path/to/ans/file

so that you don't have to reinput all params interactively each time you run it.

Do you know what modules were compiled in the Kaltura version of NGiNX? I want to know if the same modules found in this users configuration are enable on the Kaltura CE version. He seems to have gotten RTSP streams to encode through NGiNX and stream back out as RTMP through NGINX.

Either, I am not able to create the proper syntax to make the stream work or the configuration for Kaltura's version of NGiNX is properly configured to allow ingestion or reply of RTSP streams. Here is the detectives I have tried on my system.

Neither, of the directives work for this instance of NGINX configured and complied by Kaltura. As you can see this specific instance would have to ingest a live RTSP stream and then encode it in a format that can be process by Kaltura CE to distribute to end uses. The source does not have enough bandwidth to server multiple connections.

If you have any suggestions or a solution you can integrate in the next or future version of Kaltura CE please advise.

The exec_pull and exec_push directives belong to the RTMP Nginx module:

The Nginx shipped with the kaltura-nginx package includes this module since the 12.4.0 release, which had Nginx version of 1.10.2-1.

If you are using an older version of the package then you will not have this module. What version do you have and what is the error you are getting?

The issue causing the player to use progressive download as the playback method was fixed in 12.7.0 and so, upgrading should make the player use HLS, which in turn, should make playback work correctly on iOS devices.

Just as a reminder, note that you should be using the HTML5 player and NOT the legacy Flash player [KDP]. To create an HTML5 player go to KMC->Studio and click on "Add New Player"

Kaltura 12.6.0
Single server setup (everything on one server).
Non-SSL setup.

Appreciate any ideas on this one. I am stumped, especially since I can't replicate on my end. He is getting very frustrated on his end.
This seems a weird one. I can NOT replicate this problem from three of my systems (Linux, Windows, & Mac), but he has this problem on both Mac with Safari, and Windows with Chrome & Firefox. We've repeatedly tried clearing the cache, rebooting his computer, etc. And he is the decision maker for the project, so if we can't get it working for him...
Any ideas what could be going on between the interaction of his sytems and the server, that would be so different from mine? I even let him login with my account, and he still had basically the same issues.

If he doesn't clear his browser cache every time, he can't get very far at all
After clearing his browser cache, he can initially login to the KAC successfully. Then create a publisher (or just select an existing one, though for some reason he couldn't select one I had created with my admin account), then he selects a Publisher > Manage. The KMC loads the dashboard initially, but then when he tries to take any action, it then refreshes, shows the menus along the top, but just a white page below. After that he can't even really login, until clearing browsers again, but then gets stopped around the same point.

Important to note, he CAN access and use the Kaltura.com setup, from the exact same systems/browsers (even in just another tab). Any ideas what is wrong with our setup versus the Kaltura.com setup? We really want to find a means to use the CE setup, he calculates it would cost him over $5,000+/mo to use the Kaltura.com services. .

The logs are showing a lot of information, but the only one I can decipher, that shows consistently when he starts trying to use the KMC is from the kaltura_apache_errors.log:

Hi,

He is trying to log into KMC using the Admin Console credentials. That is clear from looking at the URL in the address bar in the screenshot you attached [says partner_id=-2, that's the admin console partner].
He should go to Admin Console->Publishers, create a new partner and then use that partner's email and passwd to login.
He can also go to his partner's row under Admin Console->publishers and click on 'Manage' from the 'Actions' select box.

That was the problem at first, that screenshot was from earlier in the troubleshooting stages, when he initially was doing as you stated, and I corrected his approach. But, after that, even though cleared cache, etc. and then he did it the correct way, he described it as the the same type of screen (that was why I re-used it). Sorry I didn't ask him for a new screenshot to prevent that confusion when posting here. Unfortunately, the logs posted reflect him accessing correctly through the Admin Console > Publishers > Manage from Actions box.
Would a series of newer screenshots be helpful?
